Happy New Year!
In this article we will share our reflection on 2024; the highs and lows, as is the nature of a small family business. How have we started the New Year? or more specifically how has Jeremy started….it involves 2 trips to A&E in just 1 week!
2024 The Highs:
RHS Chelsea Flower Show - 2024 we took the risk (financially) and opted for a larger, much more prominent stand. We were able to display a wider range of our sphere sizes, our new ‘Cornish Chimney’ and our 1.5m sphere with its 2m diameter Corten steel base.
We linked with our new friends at Kits Nursery who supplied us with the plants and helped us gain our 5 stars trade stand award.
We are excited to have the same partnership this year and the same stand. Jeremy is currently working on a new feature to display. Will you be visiting? Stand no. 155.
2024 The not so good bits!
The Van!! Breakdowns, new engines, stuck in the snow! 2025 may be the year we get a shiny new van! If Jeremy can convince the financial director (i.e his wife, Victoria!)
Although RHS Chelsea Flower show was a major high, some of you may not have seen Jeremy at all! He was ill for the whole show! whether this was stress in the build up or just simply picking up a nasty bug when he was already tired, who knows. He unfortunately spent most of the week in the rented accommodation!. Thankfully we had our good friends of the business to help Victoria out.
The start of 2025……
Visit to A&E twice
How’s your 2025 going so far?….Within the space a of week, Jeremy visited A&E twice! A deep cut to the finger whilst cutting cucumber requiring 4 stitches on New Years Day, nothing at all to do with the previous nights jovialities and being a little “tired” the day after! Followed by a broken thumb after a trip to the quarry to load up, resulted in slate landing on the thumb! The show must go on and thankfully working one-handed hasn’t impacted too much, except on the patience levels!
It feels like such a relief to start the year in a more stable financial position. We are getting noticed, whether this is through more advertising on google or more links with garden designers our seasonal business that often brings worrying times in Winter is becoming less so, as we make links with more clients; after all, garden designing and landscaping happens all year! It feels good to be making a name for ourselves and customers are wanting a Jeremy Hastings Watersphere in their garden.
